Panel styles

Nordic Ice is avalible in three different panel styles to fit your application; Dove-Tail, Spline and Squere Edge. The panels are made form an exclusive polymer compound, giving you the most ice-like skating surface on the market. Nordic Ice can be tailored to fit your specific needs; we offer various sizes, thicknesses and assembly systems. 

Dove-Tail

This is the newest and most modern synthetic panel available. It is the most popular in all areas of the sport. DoveTail panels will not break, chip, warp or bend under normal and expected use. They do not wear out even in constant installation / removal / travel situations, which is why all traveling synthetic ice show productions use them. The installation time for a DoveTail floor is a fraction of the time required to install a Spline or Square Edge floor. The DoveTail panel is a much stronger panel in every respect. Expansion and contraction has no negative effect on DoveTail panels, and therefore, is the only panel recommended for outdoor use. The panel is offered in two different thicknesses;

Thickness ½” (1,3 cm), length: 2,3 m, width: 1,15 m, square meter: 2,61 m2. Suitable for all applications including commercial rinks.

Thickness ¾” (1,9 cm), length: 2,3 m, width: 1,15 m, square meter: 2,61 m2. Recommended for very heavy use, commercial applications or those in which the sub-floor is somewhat uneven.

Spline

Spline panels have been around for many years and are offered by several suppliers. The Spline product is put together using a spline, which is inserted in-between the boards. The product fits permanent installations indoors. The product is cheaper but the life expectancy is shorter than the Dove Tail product. The panel is offered in one thickness; 

Thickness ¾” (1,9 cm), length: 2,43 m, width: 1,36 m, square meter: 3,3 m2. Recommended for very heavy use, commercial applications or those in which the sub-floor is somewhat uneven.


Squere Edge

The Squere Edge product is the least expensive. They do not interlock with other panels and must be glued or attached to the sub floor using appropriate materials. Square Edge panels must be used indoors where the temperature does not vary. The sub floor has to be perfectly level. The panel is offered in one thickness;
